Anime Squadron is a Roblox lane-defense tower defense and gacha game, mastering its core mechanics will save you enormous amounts of wasted resources. This page covers all the main pillars in one place: the currency system (Gems, Gold, Yen, and various Cubes/Shards), summoning rates and pity, the three independent upgrade tracks (Traits / Stat Reroll / Gear), unit evolution and fusion, and the account-wide Perks system. The game officially launched on 2026-06-13 and many values are still in flux, confidence levels are noted throughout, and when in doubt, always check the in-game UI.

Currency System: Six Resources, Each with Its Own Role

The economy runs on two layers: a **persistent meta layer** (Gems, Gold, carried between sessions) and an **in-match layer** (Yen, which resets each run). Get clear on who does what, and you will stop wasting resources.

Anime Squadron does not have a huge number of resources, but each one has a strictly defined role. The most common beginner mistake is confusing in-match Yen with account Gold, or mixing up Trait Shards (for rolling Traits) with Cubes (for rolling Stats). The table below covers the full currency lineup.

Gems
The core currency for summoning. Earned from clearing Story, completing quests, redeem codes, and AFK idle rewards, the most valuable resource in the early game. 已确认
Gold
The account-wide permanent currency. Spent on unit evolution, gear crafting, and buying/upgrading Perks. Earned from clearing modes, redeem codes, and AFK. 已确认
Yen (written as Zeni in some redeem codes)
In-match currency, resets at the start of each run and accumulates through rounds. Used to deploy units on the battlefield and upgrade deployed units mid-round. Completely separate from account Gold. 已确认
Trait Shards
The dedicated currency for rolling Traits at the Traits NPC. Sources include challenge stages, Raid Act 4 (best drop rate), AFK, quests, Battle Pass, and redeem codes (the fastest free source). 已确认
Reroll Cubes
Used to reroll a unit's stat grade at the Stat-Reroll NPC. Unrelated to Traits. 单源存疑
Perfect Cubes
The premium version of Reroll Cubes, with a higher chance of landing A-grade stats or better. Rare, save them for core units you have committed to long-term. 单源存疑

Summoning: Two Banners & Contested Rates

Summoning costs Gems and uses either the Basic or Selection banner. Rate data is conflicting across sources, this section explains how the banners work, then lays the discrepancies out honestly.

There are two recruitment banners. The Basic Banner is available from the start, with the featured unit rotating every hour. The Selection Banner unlocks at account level 10 and lets you lock in a specific Mythic as your target, refreshing every 24 hours, this is the most Gem-efficient way to target a specific Mythic. A single pull reportedly costs around 50 Gems (single source, verify in-game). Worth noting: some of the game's strongest units (Gometa, Madora, Shanron, Puppeteer, Shield Hero) are not in any banner and must be obtained through evolution or stage unlocks instead, see below and the unit index.

The two rate sets are mutually contradictory, and Legendary/Epic rates have not been published by any source. These figures are for reference only, verify in-game.

Three Independent Upgrade Systems, Don't Mix Them Up

The game has three completely separate upgrade tracks that community guides frequently conflate. Understand what each one does before spending rare materials.

There are three independent paths to making a unit stronger, each using different currencies and different NPCs. Treating them as the same thing is the top reason beginners waste Perfect Cubes and Trait Shards.

  1. Traits: Each unit can equip only one Trait, rolled using Trait Shards at the Traits NPC. Traits determine whether a unit can punch above its weight class, they are the most impactful of the three systems. See the Traits page for the full list and rolling advice.
  2. Stat Reroll: Use Reroll Cubes to reroll a unit's stat grade, with Perfect Cubes as the premium option (higher chance of A-grade or above). Done at the Stat-Reroll NPC, completely separate from the Traits system.
  3. Gear: Each unit has 6 gear slots. Craft gear at the Crafting NPC using Gold + Story materials for stackable stat bonuses and set bonuses (see the next section).

Evolution & Fusion: Full Power, Fusion Quests & Primal Cores

The game's strongest units are mostly obtained through evolution and fusion, not pulled from banners. This section explains the materials chain and one critical ordering tip.

Evolution (also called Ascension) requires a Full Power evolved form + Fusion quest line + Primal Core materials + Gold. Materials mainly drop from Story and Raid. The flagship example is Gometa (Gogeta SSJ4, the top unit in the game): it cannot be pulled directly, you must first evolve Goki (Goku) to SSJ4 Full Power, then complete the Primal Fusion quest line and gather Primal Cores to fuse him.

  1. 1
① Level Up GokiLevel and evolve Goki (Goku) to SSJ4 Full Power, he is S-tier in his own right and also the required fusion ingredient.
  2. 2
② Complete the Fusion QuestFinish the Primal Fusion quest line (tied to Story progress).
  3. 3
③ Gather Primal CoresFarm enough Primal Cores from Story / Raid, then combine with Gold to fuse Gometa (SSJ4).

Gear Crafting & Set Bonuses: 6 Slots + Low Activation Thresholds

Every unit has its own 6 gear slots, crafted with Gold and Story materials. Set bonuses activate at a lower threshold than you might expect.

Every unit has an independent 6-slot gear loadout: Chest, Boots, Helmet, Necklace, Core, and Sword. Gear is crafted at the Crafting NPC (who resembles Madara) using Gold + Story materials. Materials are distributed across Story Acts (Leaf Village / GT City / Marine Lobby, etc.), later stages and Raids drop higher-rarity materials. Gear stats stack additively with a unit's base stats and Traits.

There are currently around 13 gear recipes (Hogyoku, Devil Sword, Devil Amulet, Ninja, Pirate, Dragon Gi, Monarch Daggers, and more). Set bonus activation thresholds are generous: any 2 pieces from the same set activate the set bonus, while Mythic-grade sets only require 1 piece. Some gear also unlocks a unit's Awakening, this mechanic has little official documentation, so watch for updates.

Perks (Account-Wide Permanent Buffs): Prioritize Max Yen

Three account-level permanent Perks, upgraded with Gold from the lobby. They apply to all modes. Upgrade order matters.

Perks are account-wide permanent buffs purchased and upgraded using Gold from the Perks menu in the lobby. They apply across all game modes. There are three in total; values below are per-level approximations that may change with patches.

Values are community-reported approximations, verify in-game.

Resource Farming & AFK: AFK Chamber and Discovery Bonuses

Passive income mainly comes from the AFK Chamber, plus an easy-to-miss Gold bonus for discovering new units.

The AFK Chamber is the primary source of passive income in the game: leave it running before logging off and come back to Gems, Gold, and Trait Rerolls. The best setup is to also leave an auto-clearable Story stage looping alongside it. Note that this is separate from the old early-access mechanic of "AFK for 12 hours to unlock EA."

The game has no traditional stamina or energy system. The closest limit is Infinite mode's 3 daily boosts. Some Story stages can be auto-cleared on repeat, making them ideal for farming materials alongside AFK. For a more detailed farming route and per-mode resource output, see Game Modes and the Beginner Guide.
